A day in the life of a lifestyle blogger

Although this isn’t a typical day – because that’d be pretty boring in all honesty, I wanted to share with you what a great day in the life of a lifestyle blogger is like. Blogging is a tough gig and we do it for the love over anything else. Most bloggers have jobs, families and social lives and if we’ve managed to juggle all of these and write a blog post or vlog then we’re feeling pretty good! So much of a blogger’s time is spent researching, photographing and liaising with brands and so it’s nice to get out and about too.

But there are some days where a day in the life of a lifestyle blogger is pretty awesome – some experFience them more than others and a day like this comes along around every 4-6 weeks for me. I guess perhaps for those who have been in the game longer than I have get pretty bored of press events, but I love them! Meeting great people behind the brands, playing with the products, photo opportunities, meeting other bloggers, prosecco, nibbles, goodie bags, prosecco… I’ve met some great bloggers and made some friends too. Because there aren’t a huge amount of interior design bloggers within the lifestyle category – you end up getting to know each other pretty well and helping each other out.

So a few weeks ago, Anna from dontcrampmystyle.com gave me a head’s up that there was a Next Home press breakfast event and they had one space left. I quickly sorted out some childcare and arranged to meet Anna the following day in London! The next day, I jumped on the Met line with my fully-charged camera, iPhone and back-up battery pack and was ready for a busy blogging day. I took 117 photos that day and picked out a few to instagram and tweet out. I filtered through the rest and selected a handful of my favourite to edit, crop and use for this blog post.

Generally you can expect the event to have styled product spaces where bloggers/press can take photos and handle the products. Anyone can walk into a store and take a look at the products for themselves, but having them styled and ready to photograph is great for bloggers and great for the brand too. There’s also always nibbles and drinks and space to sit and chat to reps from the brand as well as other bloggers too. Some events will have a talk,

After the #Nexttonotime breakfast press event, Anna introduced me to Alina Ghost of The Fairytale Pretty Picture and we all headed off to the Debenhams Beauty event held in a gorgeous London apartment designed by Kit Kemp (check out my post on how to style your sofa for more #kitkemp inspiration).

What an amazing backdrop to showcase awesome beauty brands…

I had a soothing hand massage by Jurlique and expert eye-brow shaping by Givenchy and a good chat to several reps from other brands. I got loads of ideas and tips for my beauty regime leading up to my Wedding in August as well as loads of samples to try out.
