Buying art for your home can be a very personal thing – and can be something quite tricky to buy as a gift for someone else. But it’s also a very thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates art and something to remind them of you when they hang it on their wall. If you know someone’s tastes well, don’t be afraid to buy them a piece of art for their home this Christmas. But I would steer clear of buying art for anyone unless you’re confident it reflects them and their home.
A piece of artwork is an ideal gift idea for someone who has just moved into a new home too – it’ll brighten up a room in an instant! I have some Christmas gift ideas below for any lucky art lover you know.
This London city skyline canvas from Maps International (available in three different sizes £47.50-£100), is a bold and contemporary piece of art which would certainly add a splash of colour to any space. Featuring iconic London landmarks such as the London Eye, The Shard, Big Ben, Gherkin, O2 arena and many more!
Maps International kindly sent me one to take a look at and I’ve hung it next to my son’s (little K) first ever painting. And as you can see, it’s really added colour, warmth and interest to an otherwise quite bland space (sorry little K). It’s actually made me realise that I’d like to add a couple more pieces to this wall to give more of a focal point to the room.
Art doesn’t have to clash with each other – artwork can complement other pieces. So when buying art as a Christmas gift, think about what other pieces they have and what may complement it. One trick is to think of colours used – various artwork using similar colours together can look really striking.
Luckily this London city skyline canvas uses so many fantastic colours, that it will complement most colour schemes. There are also similar canvases for Paris, Berlin, New York, Moscow and Sydney too!
And here are some other Christmas gift ideas for the art lover – hope this helps you to find the perfect piece!
