Today we’re celebrating six months of this little one being in our lives! She’s growing crazy fast. Sometimes it feels like I just have to blink and she’s outgrown another load of clothes. It seems like only yesterday that I was placing her on her back in her little moses basket. Safe in the knowledge that she couldn’t really move much. Now she’s rolling around (and spinning 360′ on her tummy too), I get so nervous that she’ll get tangled up in her sleep. As soon as she outgrew her moses basket, I got her a couple of sleep bags for her cot bed. I always like to have back-ups of these things as they always get covered in dribble, baby puke, get blown into a river (don’t ask!!!) so it’s good to have a spare.
Sleep bags are basically a zip-up baby duvet like a sleeping bag but with arms. This means that when she rolls, it all moves with her and she can’t get tangled up. This 2.5 tog sleep bag even has a fabric pocket to hide the zip so it doesn’t irritate your sleeping angel. The lovely team from Sleepypeople.com sent me a few items from the Silentnight Safe Nights collection for our 6-18 month sleep stage. It might seem like a long amount of time, but in that she’ll transition to a pillow and duvet.
She’s still at that stage when she can’t quite decide if she’s tired, hungry, playful or all of the above! But one of my pre-requisites of ANY bedding is that it’s 100% cotton. With its natural fibres it breathes and helps you to stay cool in summer and warm in winter. Any synthetic materials can make you sweaty and give you a rash and so a big no no for babies. Especially if, like me, you struggle enough to keep them asleep at night!
The Silentnight Safe Nights collection is their premium collection and 100% cotton jersey. It’s beautifully soft and cosy and I just love the pale grey stars. This design comes in various sizes of fitted sheets, from moses basket to cot to cot bed but they also do have some other designs available. Produced in OEKO-TEX® certified factories and conforming to BS8510:2009. If this means as much to you as it did to me, in a nutshell this range has the ultimate seal of approval for safety standards. Once she’s ready to start using a pillow and duvet in around six months time, they’ll still match her fitted sheets. The duvet cover and pillow case are also made from the same jersey cotton and will fit with any standard cot bedding.
She’s been in her new Silentnight Safe Nights collection from Sleepypeople.com for several days now and so far she’s sleeping really well in it. The sheets washed beautifully too with no colour fade. An unexpected bonus was that the sheets came out without needing ironing too – huge bonus!!
