You may remember my recent ticket giveaway to The House Fair in association with House & Garden? Well I couldn’t resist going along as well. Packed full of inspiration for your home, the house fair is the definitive home style event aimed at those who are looking for ideas for their own homes. I haven’t been to the house fair before and so I didn’t have any expectations – I was just up for a nice day out and perhaps a bit of homeware shopping ; )
This year’s event saw the Amara Interior Blog Awards sponsor three styled rooms by some of my favourite interior bloggers, Grant Pierrus, Gabby Palumbo (I met Grant and Gabby at a recent trip to Wedgwood) and Martyn White. They were each given a blank canvas and tasked with creating an amazing space using furniture and home accessories available from the exhibitors at the show. The theme was ‘Summer Living’ which reflected the theme of this year’s house fair too. The results were fantastic – I love the artisan crossed-leg Lombok dining table featured in Grant’s styled room. The hand-made walnut Macmaster lamp is simply stunning! Read more about it over on Grant’s blog.
Gabby’s styled space was a clean and eclectic living room with real Scandi vibes. Natural materials and a muted colour palette come alive with fresh house plants. Elements of brass and those amazing graphic prints give this space a contemporary feel – find out more over on Gabby’s blog.
I loved the clean lines, bold furniture and pops of green in Martyn’s styled room. Described as ‘fresh, natural and minimalist’, the aim was to create a calming bedroom space. With oriental inspirations this is certainly a room with plenty of balance – the floral touches soften the space. I love the white hydrangea in the Raft glass lantern and how stunning is this Lombok four poster bed?
Lombok were a popular brand at the house fair – I featured them over on the blog AGES ago. I’m a big fan of their simple, yet elegant hand-crafted and Eastern inspired furniture and homewares. It was great to meet some of the faces behind the brand and see some of their latest products too…
Also at the house fair were two beautifully decorated spaces designed by Joanna Plant Interiors and Salvesen Graham. “Decorated Spaces celebrates a quintessentially English style of decoration interpreted through the modern eye, for the way we live now. I have asked two of The List’s distinguished designers to create pretty, layered and summery living spaces that will inspire visitors for their own homes”. Hatta Byng, Editor -House & Garden
Joanna Plant put together this comfortable and welcoming English summery dining room. A perfect interior style for an orangery and providing a seamless link between your home and garden.
Interior design duo Nicole Salvesen and Mary Graham put together a relaxed and quirky morning room. Traditional interior styles and techniques with a contemporary twist. “Our design style is all about bringing a fresh interpretation to traditional and classical interiors underpinned by the use of colour, texture and pattern. We love to create elegant rooms that are welcoming, richly layered and full of charm”.
The house fair was full of talented designers and I was delighted to meet Anna Jacobs at last! I love her beautiful and colourful fabric designs and picked up a couple of tea towels which are the latest in her product line. I have my eye on one of her ceiling light shades and hoping to treat my home to one after the wedding which is next month!
Did you make it to the house fair this year? What was your favourite bit and what was the best interior idea that you took away with you?

I wish I could have made it – looks like a great event. That first dining room has to be my favourite, I love it.
