All the perfect presents featured on this blog post have only one thing in common… they’re all wrapped in Prestigious Textiles’ wallpaper! Wrapping with wallpaper is so easy and a great way to use up those left-over bits from decorating. Especially if you’ve recently papered your living room – there’s no better way to coordinate your new decor then using some of the wallpaper on your presents under the tree too.
A few tips before we get started…
- Wrapping with wallpaper is much easier if the paper is relatively thin. If you have a very thick or textured paper, you could make gift bags, tags or use it to emboss your wrapped gift.
- Washi tape – my must-have for wrapping gifts! Originating from Japan, I can only describe washi tape like beautiful masking tape. It’s tough enough to decorate with, but it’s also removable unlike sellotape. I ordered a selection of washi tapes from CWL crafts at Etsy UK along with some plain gift tags.
- If you have an spare ribbons stuffed in a kitchen drawer – now’s the time to use them up!
Wrapping with wallpaper is like using very good quality wrapping paper. The paper is thick enough so that it’s not translucent and won’t tear while you wrap the gift – my pet peeves! Just make sure your creases are sharp to get a neatly wrapped gift.
Cut the paper to size as it’s really difficult to make a gift look neat if you have a lot of excess paper on the sides. The sides of your gift should look like the picture above. Don’t discard the extra paper though as you can use it to embellish your gift. Even if you only have a few scraps of wallpaper left – you can cut and fold to create a bow.
I used the washi tape as an alternative to a ribbon on some of my gifts, and to embellish the few pieces of scrap ribbon that I had. If your ribbon is quite short and thick, you can fold it to make a flat ribbon shape. Washi tape is great for embellishing plain gift tags to match too!
To make each gift look unique, you can also cut out the pattern from your wallpaper to stick to the top of your wrapped gift. I used up some of the excess paper from the gift above and stuck it down with pritt-stick to this beautiful silver wallpaper. A simple green ribbon tied around is all you need here.
Have fun when wrapping with wallpaper by using contrasting colours, patterns and styles. It’s all about having fun with your wrapping and the more care you give to how your gifts look, the more they will be appreciated. This glitter washi tape ads texture and sparkle too which is just what you need at Christmas time!
Afterall, Christmas is not about ‘getting stuff’. Giving gifts is a way to show your love and appreciation to your friends and family and so I feel that wrapping your gift beautifully is as important as the gift itself. It shows that you’ve taken thought and care over their present : )
