As a fellow foodie, I have so many thoughts on great festive edible Christmas gift ideas. We all love getting thoughtful gifts at Christmas time, but choosing the perfect present can be difficult and so treats to eat can be a fab option – especially for those who seemingly have everything!
Edible gifts are also a great alternative to flowers and plants when looking for the perfect gift to post to those you won’t see this Christmas. I’ve got a selection of ideas for you below, but first I want to highlight a company I’ve been a fan of for a while. The Biscuiteers Baking Company (Biscuiteers) was launched in Notting Hill, London in 2007 by husband and wife team Harriet Hastings and Stevie Congdon. Each biscuit is handmade in traditional and non-industrial methods making each collection of biscuits unique. Biscuiteers create wonderful collections for a variety of occasions and are a wonderful alternative to sending flowers. Also, if you order before 1pm they can organise next day delivery (great for those gifts you almost forgot… shhh!).
Well my Christmas certainly came early when Biscuiteers kindly sent me their Nutcracker Christmas Biscuit Tin. I remember seeing the Nutcracker ballet in the Royal Opera House one Boxing day (I was around 5 or 6) and it certainly brought back wonderful childhood memories of Christmas. Biscuiteers have a large selection of Christmas treats and the festive tin ranges are certainly something special. Once the biscuits have been eaten, you can reuse the tin to store special Christmas cards in or delicate baubles – I think I may keep some fairy lights in mine to stop them from getting all tangled!
Something that impressed me almost as much as the biscuits themselves, was the care that went into the packaging. They really make sure your biscuits arrive as they left the Biscuiteer kitchens. Each biscuit is iced onto protective grease-proof paper so they don’t move around during transit and giving you confidence that whoever opens this tin would be really pleased.
Here’s the full Nutcracker collection… each biscuit is hand-iced and so much care and attention goes into creating each one. Little K is already eyeing-up the Mouse King so better get down to the hard part – the taste test!
And yum, they really do taste as good as they look with a delicate all spice flavour. Now, I better go and hide the tin so they don’t all disappear in one go! Biscuiteers also hold biscuit decorating classes which is a great gift for any age. I went along to the Biscuiteers school of icing and it was so much fun!
