Creating a fabulous atmosphere with Fenttiman candles

Fenttiman signature candle

Any estate agent will tell you that you don’t sell a house, or a home but a lifestyle. When someone walks into your home for the first time, you want them to instantly feel like they’re somewhere welcoming. A home should have a lovely inviting atmosphere and it’s not just the visuals that are important but the scent too. That’s why they always say you should light a scented candle a couple of hours before a viewing to leave the beautiful scent lingering… or you can bake if you have the time! As with a delicious meal, the smell is just as important as the presentation – it’s what’s telling your subconscious to relax and enjoy!

Similar principles can be taken to creating a more fabulous atmosphere in your home, whether you’re selling your property or not. Whether you are relaxing after a tough day, or you are entertaining friends indoors or outside – a candle or two is a perfect way to create an instantly tranquil environment. So when Fenttiman London got in touch with me via twitter I was instantly impressed by their brand. The Fenttiman candles and diffusers have a classic, timeless and yet modern style and this reflects in their range of scents too.

Fenttiman London sent me their signature scent as I was intrigued by it. ‘This beautiful signature candle is quintessentially British’, the description reads, ‘This scent took two years to develop, the formula is top-secret though we can reveal it only uses the most luxurious ingredients. Rumour has it, everyone detects a different aroma, explore it yourself…’. And so I decided to take up the challenge! The Fenttiman Exclusive no. 7 candle (£39) arrived beautifully presented in ribbon adorned gift box and it would make a delightful gift for anyone. The candle sits in a velvety bag which really gives it that elegant touch. Also in the gift box is a Fenttiman branded matchbox with long and sturdy matches with a lilac tip – they think of everything!

When I lit the candle, slowly the oils were released from the wax and quickly filled my living room with a glorious scent. It reminded me of the scent you get in a Catholic or Greek Orthodox church and after a quick Google, I realised that it must be Myrrh that I could smell. It’s a real earthy, woody scent but I could also note some florals in there too – lavender, jasmine and perhaps some sandalwood too. After three hours of burning (total burn time is 45 hours), you can see the oils from the candle above which continued to release the scent for another hour after it was blown out. My friends also loved the candle commenting ‘It smells like a summer evening’ and ‘what a lovely homely scent’.

I could tell you a little more about the Fenttiman brand, but I think they do a fabulous job themselves – take a look:
