I was so excited to be invited to go along to Decorex 2015 as an interior design blogger. It was my first time at this annual event, but certainly not my last! Filled with luxury interior brands it’s THE event for anyone in the interior or architecture profession and a great sneak-preview of future friends. With 400 hand-selected exhibitors, my Decorex 2015 video really is just an overview of the event – but gives a good flavour of the experience.
Take a look at my Decorex 2015 video vlog for just a few highlights (I’m still getting to grips with vlogging so feedback welcome!)
There was so much to take in from the exhibition and I took over a hundred photos! So I’ve picked out some highlights and grouped them together by key interior trends. But you can see many more of my Decorex 2015 interior trends pics over on instagram!
Lighting trends
As I mentioned in the vlog, there was plenty of matt black and golden metal tones on display at Decorex 2015. And this couldn’t be more evident then in the fabulous lighting on display! It was only last week that I wrote a post about lighting ideas for all budgets – and sleek mid-century modern lighting is very much on-trend. I didn’t capture the best photo – but I love the Martin Huxford Matrix chandelier in brushed brass (top-right). It’s such a warm soft light and casts atmospheric shadows accross the walls. The top-middle and bottom-left are both Chelsom lighting – their understated elegance can be found in some of the top international hotels including The Savoy Hotel.
Fabric trends
Although there’s limitless possibilities when it comes to fabric design – there were many cool metallic fabrics on show at Decorex 2015. Blues, greys and silvers were everywhere as well as fabulous geometric and floral designs. Natasha Marshall is a Glasgow-based designer (top middle) and the fabrics are so striking , fun and colourful. The flip print is one of my personal favourites at the moment too and the jewel tones are right on trend. There’s plenty of stunning rich velvets and jewel tones from Black Edition (middle bottom). Beautiful fabrics by Aldeco, Olivia Bard, Villa Nova and last but certainly not least is the show stopping Timorous Beasties.
Furniture and home accessories trends
There were so many gorgeous pieces of furniture and home accessories that I had to add another row of images! I found it really difficult to just pick my favourite nine, but I each of these deserved a spot for different reasons. Each piece is unique and would make a statement in any space – eye catching and full of character. The craftsmanship on display at Decorex 2015 was overwhelming and it’s no wonder that designers travel from all over the world to exhibit here. There was one designer that appealed to my personal taste a little more than the others and I was positively drooling over his furniture. Reda Amalou featured centre and centre-left, is an architect and designer who creates iconic pieces of furniture with a very art-deco 20th century feel. The contrast between with warm metals and woods such as mahogany and walnut and the strong clean lines is quite simply stunning.
And possibly the most instagrammed piece from Decorex 2015 was the Posh Trading Co’s handmade skulls (top centre). Each is a unique piece of art and a definitive conversation-starter! The mid-century modern trend reflecting strongly through the furniture featured at Decorex too, especially at Charles Burnand featured bottom left. Charles Burnand is where design-lovers come to find one-off pieces collected by Simon Stewart, the man behind the brand.
Rugs and wallcovering trends
Decorex 2015 saw the recently launched 17 Patterns, featured centre top and bottom. They collaborate with artists directly to create wallcoverings which are truly creative. The distinctive style of each designer shows through in the varied collection and I love the geometric micro dazzle and how fabulous are those flamingos!? As this photo collage is dedicated to wallcoverings… I just had to include these beautiful Castello tiles by Orvi (available through Burlington Stone).
Did you go to Decorex this year? Did you have a favourite exhibitor?

Oh no, I hope you get better soon! Decorex was the only event I managed to make it to during London Design Festival (toddler and work commitments) but it was so inspirational that I had to share : )
