Ah the wedding bunting… normally reserved for marquees and outdoor weddings, we rocked the coastal vibe! The venue, aptly named The Master Builder House Hotel is a historic ship builders nestled on the Beaulieu river. My Husband’s (yay!) family have had a mooring here for over 20 years and it’s become a special place for me and my son too.
The main reception room has panoramic views over the river and allowing plenty of light inside. There was little that we needed to do decor-wise. It would have just distracted from the already-beautiful space so we kept everything simple.
We wanted to celebrate our love of the nautical (little-known fact: my hubby was on the design team of Superyacht A) and so we got this fab bunting from Homebase. The bold, but simple blue and white pattern was perfect for our colour scheme!
I was in a bit of a flap the night before our wedding (not knowing at the time that I was pregnant!) and I was so lucky to have friends and family helping to set everything up. The staff at the venue were so wonderfully accommodating, particularly José who couldn’t have been more on the ball!
The key to hanging bunting is to make sure everything is symmetrical. Even the small detail such as the pattern in the flags and spacing as it’ll really make a difference with the final look. Cut out any excess ribbon and tags too as it’ll keep everything looking neat and professional.
We had our Wedding ceremony in the same room as the Wedding breakfast and the evening reception. This makes set up so much easier and the Wedding bunting made a beautiful focal point for the band in the evening too. We were so lucky to book an amazing band – Radar, at such short notice before the Wedding. If you’ve read my previous Wedding posts you’ll know we only had 4 months to plan the whole day! The band fronted by Jesse Smith went down a storm with our guests and I couldn’t recommend these guys enough.
Even my dad was really impressed and that’s saying a lot. He was known as THE sound guy for rock bands in the 80’s and worked with most of the great British bands at the time recording records as well as producing custom-made sound equipment. So no pressure there then! He was particularly impressed with Radar’s Led Zeppelin covers : )
Our first dance under the Wedding bunting was to Ed Sheeran ‘Lego House’ performed live by Radar and it was perfect – especially when little K joined us on the dance floor!
If you’re planning a coastal or nautical wedding then I hope this has given you some inspiration for your Wedding bunting!
Many thanks to Tasha from Ikonworks for the amazing photos from our Wedding Day xx
