dining in a small house

Even if you have a small home like mine, there’s always space for some stylish dinner party accessories! I’m always on the hunt for pretty things for the home and because I only have a small kitchen table for dining on, I try to bring style through functional dining products. I love to cook and I love to socialise and so when I became a Mum, I started inviting friends over much more often as sometimes it was the only way I could see people! In the run-up to Christmas, it’s great to invite friends over – even if it’s just for some cheese and wine. And there’s nothing more inviting then a fantastic selection of cheeses and nibbles laid out and a carafe of wine ready for drinking.dining in a small houseThe dining area in our little cottage is so small, it’s practically in the living room! What you can’t see in this shot is the fridge and cooker just behind the chairs where you can’t actually open the fridge if someone is sitting there. But do you know what? It doesn’t matter! Because once you’ve got all the food on a beautifully decorated table, the candles are lit and you’re chatting away – you don’t see all the other stuff ; )slate cheese boardThis ASA slate cake stand from Houseology is perfect for displaying not only cakes, but cheese or nibbles too. It comes with a chalk pen for labeling your goodies – handy if you want to warn your guests about the stinky cheeses! Made from natural slate, this double tiered stand is timelessly stylish and would look just as great in a formal dining setting as on my own little kitchen table. This ASA slat cake stand comes apart to fold down into a small box so it’s ideal for storing away. It’s also machine-washable so you don’t have to worry too much about washing up after dinner.Stylish dinner party accessories 2Stylish dinner party accessories 4Next on my list of must-have stylish dinner party accessories from Houseology, is this beautiful LSA wine and water carafe set with oak base. Within a natural oak base, nestles two hand-blown glass carafes. The larger wine carafe is the perfect size for aerating your red wine whilst the smaller carafe can be used for white wine or water. I love adding sliced orange and lemon to sparkling water for natural flavour and it looks great in this elegant carafe set.wine carafe 2wine carafewine and waterwine and water carafe wine carafe 3When I was a student, amongst other jobs, I was a silver service waitress and used to spend hours folding napkins in ridiculously intricate designs. Life is too short for that. For a really simple, yet stylish napkin display – just thread the napkin through a napkin ring and fan out into a bow shape. Pretty isn’t it?
